INTRODUCTION

“EEE” Reynold's Apparatus consists of an acrylic tube with one end having bell mouth entrance connected to the water tank. Valve is connected to the tube in which the dye is injected at the mouth from the dye bottle. By varying the discharge, dye in the form of Thread is observed for the stream
lined flow and a wavy form of dye thread is observed in the transient stage from stream lined to turbulent flow and finally the dye is observed in the diffused form when turbulent flow occurs as the discharge is increased.

RANGE OF EXPERIMENTS

1. To determine the Reynolds number & hence the type of flow either laminar or turbulent.
2. To determine upper & lower critical Reynolds numbers and velocities.

SPECIFICATIONS

1. Storage tank with flow steadying arrangements. Tank Size 400 mm x 400 mm x 700 mm
approximately. Storage tank is made up of 18 SWG M.S. sheet with 1.5 mm approx. of F.R.P.
lining internally to resist corrosion and externally are powder coated.

INTRODUCTION

“EEE”Venturimeter & Orificemeter apparatus is useful for calibration of Venturimeter and orificemeter
consisting of storage Tank of suitable capacity, pump (0.5HP) with Control valves, Pressure tapings,and Rotameter etc. The unit is supplied with one ventuimeter and one orificemeter ,'U' Tube Mercury Manometer, Stop Clock, etc.

INTRODUCTION

Cavitation is most unpleasant hydrodynamic phenomenon, whose harmful effect are both widespread and obvious and seriously handicap many phase of science and engineering. Conversely its basic nature has long been valid in mystery and only recently it is beginning to understand. Cavitation is liquid phenomenon and does not occur under any normal circumstances either in solids or gases. It is seldom observed in concerned field because it normally occurs within closed opaque conduits. But now with the help of this set up demonstration of its direct appearance and measurement of conditions is possible. Thus it is very helpful for better understanding Cavitation.
The test set up works as closed circuit system and uses only above 750 lits of water as a cavitating fluid. Two tanks, one as a sump or delivery tank and another as a pressure tank are provided. The centrifugal pump sucks water. The delivery side of the pump is fitted with a valve for flow variation. A Venturimeter is provided for discharge measurement. The discharge is given to a closed pressure vessel were the water gets pressurized and it passes through the acrylic Venturimeter and the same goes back to the sump tank through suitable pipe line. The acrylic Venturimeter is so designed that the liquid reaches its vapor pressure at a desired discharged of water and Cavitation is initiated at the throat and the pressure at throat is reduced about 620-mm.of hg. (7 to 8 mtrs. of water head).
